History
On November 25th, 2007, Light of the World Gospel Ministries held its first meeting on the Omaha Indian Reservation at the town Fire Hall in Walthill, Nebraska. That cold, fall day 12 people turned up, which included Pastor Paul, his wife Jen, and their son, Daniel. Out of the 12 people that were there, all of them are still with the church today.
The vision for the Omaha Reservation was birthed after Pastor Paul heard a testimony at a preacher’s conference in Beaumont, Texas from an Omaha Indian lady named Pat Phillips in 2003.
She testified about the spiritual need on the Reservation. Pastor Paul was shocked by her statement: “My people have not been served”. Four years later, the work began. When Pastor Paul and his family moved to Walthill, there was no congregation or church building set in place. Thankfully, the Fire Marshall allowed the church to hold services every Sunday and children’s church on Wednesday nights in the Fire Hall.
In 2009, our church outgrew the Fire Hall, but the Lord graciously provided a new building located on Main St., which was once a funeral home. A place that was used for the deceased is now being used for changing lives and bringing about a spiritual awakening in the community.
We quickly outgrew our building and in 2013, we started the process of pre-building a larger one. However, because of the spiritual and physical resistance against our church, we are still in the process of obtaining a bigger building to meet the need.
Over the past years since the start, God has been moving in a mighty way. Many people have encountered Christ, many marriages have been reconciled, and many lives have been healed. Also, we have graciously experienced continual growth within our church body.
Light of the World Gospel Ministries continues to exist for the glory of the Lord, the changing of lives and the ministry of the saints. It is our hope and prayer that revival will visit the state of Nebraska and that God will allow us to be a part of that move.
