What We Believe

The Scriptures

We maintain an allegiance to the teaching of Scripture and believe it to be inerrant, infallible and verbally inspired (Matthew 4:4, Romans 3:4, Romans 4:3). We believe that whatever the Bible says is true. We judge all things by the Word of God and only by the Word of God.

The Godhead

We believe that God is triune – comprising of 3 separate and distinct personalities – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are eternally self-existent, self-revealed and function as one entity (Luke 3:21-22, 1 John 5:7). We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, holding Him to be God manifested in the flesh.

Man, The Fall & Redemption

We believe man was created in a sinless state at the beginning of creation and as a result enjoyed perfect communion with God. But by voluntary transgression man fell and became separated from God. His only hope of reconciliation is found in Jesus Christ the Son of God, and through His free gift of salvation (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7: Romans 5:12-21).

Salvation

Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross (Romans 3:24; John 3:3). Christ became sin for us so that we could be justified before a thrice-holy God. Salvation is therefore by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8). It is not by human works or any merit that we possess. The inward evidence to the believer of His salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:18-19, 24). The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness. The born-again Christian carries an assurance that he belongs to God and that he will one day spend eternity with Him.

The Church

We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who are saved through faith in Jesus Christ. This has resulted in them being regenerated by the Holy Spirit and united together in the body of Christ of which Christ is the Head (1 Corinthians 12:12). This unity is to be expressed in our worship, fellowship and ministry.

Church Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances: baptism in water (Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:34-38) and the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11). Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is the partaking of the emblems of bread and wine, symbolic of the Savior’s broken body and shed blood. We do this in remembrance of His sacrificial death, until He comes.

The Great Commission

We are committed to the great commission (Matthew 24:14, Mark 16:15), being dedicated to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the “whosoever.” Every member of the church is expected to be a witness for Christ.

Power For Service

We believe that Christ has empowered His Church since Pentecost with the baptism of the Holy Ghost to take the Gospel message to all nations (Acts 1:4-5, Luke 24:46-49). As a New Testament Church, we believe that power is still active today for those who seek it.

The End

We believe in the literal, physical and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ for all His saints at the Second Coming (1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 1:7; 9:11). We believe in the resurrection of the saints to life eternal and the resurrection of the ungodly to final judgment and eternal death. We believe the elect will enjoy eternal bliss with Christ on the new earth, and the wicked shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.
